A New Standard in Transparency: Palram Polycarb Achieves EPD Verification

In today’s construction world, performance alone is no longer enough. Transparency has become just as important.
Architects, planners, and developers increasingly want to understand not only how materials perform, but how they are made and what impact they carry.
This is where Environmental Product Declarations come in.
We’re proud to share that Palram Polycarb’s polycarbonate sheet production in Doncaster, UK, has achieved verified EPD certification under The International EPD® System.
As one of the early adopters of EPD in the polycarbonate sheet category, this milestone marks a meaningful step forward in our commitment to measurable, transparent sustainability.

What is an EPD and why does it matter?

An Environmental Product Declaration is often compared to a nutrition label for building materials.
It provides a clear, standardized breakdown of a product’s environmental impact across its lifecycle, based on detailed Life Cycle Assessment and verified by an independent third party.
This means no assumptions and no general statements. Only measured, comparable data.
For decision-makers working toward LEED, BREEAM, and other green building standards, EPDs are quickly becoming essential.

Real data. Real manufacturing.

Our EPD is based on a full year of actual production data from our Polycarb facility in Doncaster.
It reflects the environmental impact of polycarbonate sheet production across key stages, from raw materials and transport through manufacturing and end-of-life.
The declaration covers our core product families:

This ensures consistency and reliability across applications, giving architects and planners confidence in the data behind the materials they specify.

Built on responsible production

The EPD process also highlights how our products are manufactured.
At the Doncaster facility:

  • Part of the electricity supply comes from on-site solar energy
  • Production includes closed-loop reuse of in-house material
  • A unified extrusion process supports efficiency across product types

These are not new initiatives. They are part of how we operate every day.
What’s new is the level of transparency. These processes are now measured, verified, and openly shared.

A step forward for polycarbonate solutions

Sustainability in construction is moving from ambition to requirement.
With this EPD, Palram Polycarb provides architects and planners with credible, third-party verified data they can rely on when specifying materials.
As one of the early companies in this segment to publish an EPD, we see this as more than compliance. It reflects a shift toward greater accountability and clarity across the industry.

Looking ahead

Publishing this EPD is not the finish line. It is part of an ongoing journey.
We will continue to improve our processes, reduce environmental impact, and expand transparency across our operations.
Because the future of building is not only about performance.
It is about accountability.
